"This is the worst Trump lookalike" - Paulo Costa reacts to recent footage of Donald Trump greeting fans with new hairstyle
Paulo Costa recently took to X to share his thoughts on Donald Trump's apparent new hairstyle. The president-elect sported a new hairstyle this week, resembling a mullet with his hair slicked back and the sides cut short.
In response to a clip of Trump's new appearance, Costa jokingly tweeted that the Trump seen in the video was an imposter. He not only referenced his different hair, but also the lack of dancing and enthusiasm, as well as the missing tan that Trump has become synonymous for.
"Frankly, this is the worst Trump lookalike, he's not orange, he doesn't have a dynamic aero hairstyle, he doesn't do a little dance and he seems a little unmotivated. Find a better one."
The one-time UFC middleweight title challenger isn't the only fighter on the roster who shares his thoughts on Trump and American politics. However, his statement amounts to little more than his usual tweets, which are comedic in nature and designed to generate engagement with fans.
On the fight front, Costa has been on a rough patch, the first in his career. After spending his first seven years undefeated, 'Borrachinha' suffered a humiliating TKO loss to Israel Adesanya in his lone middleweight title fight in 2020. Afterward, he lost to Marvin Vettori via unanimous decision at light heavyweight in 2021.
Cosa managed to break his losing streak by beating ex-middleweight titleholder Luke Rockhold via unanimous decision. But, he subsequently lost back-to-back fights to Robert Whittaker and Sean Strickland, marking a 1-4 run in his last five fights.
Paulo Costa was previously a Jair Bolsonaro supporter
Paulo Costa, like some of his countrymen in the UFC, was a supporter of Jair Bolsonaro, who served as President of Brazil from 2019 to 2023. Bolsonaro's right-wing politics and national conservatism earned him comparisons with Donald Trump.
"I will make sure to bring Jair Messina [Messias] Bolsonaro the best Brazilian president ever"
Costa, who is an admirer of the aforementioned two politicians, once issued tweets in support of Bolsonaro, some of which he has since removed from his X profile following severe fan backlash. Among those he left untouched was a tweet that played on his past joke of being Mexican.
