Throwback: When Dana White said UFC fighters could get fired for domestic violence after cutting Luis Pena
Dana White once claimed that no fighter on the UFC roster is safe from being cut off from their professional contracts if they have been accused or found guilty of serious crimes like domestic violence.
A few days after the UFC released Luis Pena in October 2021 following his arrest on charges of domestic violence, MMA Junkie asked White during a presser about how the decision to do so came about and the organization's policy on handling such situations. The UFC supremo replied:
"Well, I mean, this was a bad case. We knew that he had problems before that we were trying to help him with. This is a pretty nasty one... This one had to happen."
The journalist further questioned whether someone like Jon Jones could be handed the same punishment if found guilty of such violent crimes. White stated:
"Something like that could happen to anybody. Yeah, could happen to anybody."

Dana White recently found himself in hot water after videos of him and his wife, Anne, exchanging slaps in an intoxicated state surfaced on social media. The couple had been vacationing in Cabo San Lucas for New Year's Eve, and Anne can be seen slapping Dana's face, leading the 53-year-old to retaliate with a couple of strikes of his own.
Dana White issues a statement following his recent public altercation with his wife
Dana White apologized in a recent statement after he was involved in a drunken altercation on New Year's Eve with his wife.
The couple were vacationing in Cabo San Lucas and were reportedly heavily intoxicated when White's wife initiated the altercation by slapping him, leading the UFC frontman to immediately retaliate with a pair of slaps of his own before bystanders could separate them.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Dana White took responsibility for his actions, stating:
"You've heard me say for years, there's never, ever, an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman, and now here I am on TMZ talking about it... This is one of those situations that's horrible. I'm embarrassed... People are going to have opinions on this, and most of the people's opinions will be right, especially in my case. You don't put your hands on a woman, ever."
