Former UFC champion Jiri Prochazka has some words of wisdom regarding his career and future
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka has put forth some words of wisdom. The Czech MMA stalwart captured the UFC light heavyweight belt by defeating Glover Teixeira via fifth-round submission in June. 'BJP' was set to defend his title in a rematch against Teixeira at UFC 282 on December 10th.
However, a severe shoulder injury sidelined Jiri Prochazka. He subsequently vacated the title out of respect for the other 205-pound UFC fighters. Prochazka has now posted a series of tweets, highlighting that he's grateful.
The 30-year-old suggested that the injury isn't an obstacle but an opportunity to be stronger and more human. Prochazka insinuated that he's accepted the warrior's path and is honest with himself. 'BJP' added that he, therefore, knows the distinction between true and false deep inside. An excerpt from another one of his tweets read as follows:
"I became the UFC Champion 5 months ago and the current situation does not change my inner feeling of being a Champion, that is the Feeling and the Reason why I started MMA. To Be the Champion of the Best and to be the best of the best. ///\\\"
Furthermore, in another pair of tweets, Jiri Prochazka wrote:
"This is my Infinite Motivation and Spirit-Consciousness and Will to ACT. I can't move it even if I force it, It's like Gravity, a law of physics. So if someone wins the LHW UFC title and proves they are the best NOW while I rest, I will be honored to see that performance and then"
Prochazka continued:
"get ready to show who is the Rightful Champion of this division and MUCH more 1P4P. I Thank my fans for their support and trust. This is the Beginning, of something Greater. I love you. ///\\\ #Bushido #Kaisen #Strongest #Unstoppable 1P4P"
UFC president Dana White addresses Jiri Prochazka's shoulder injury
In a recent interview with Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole, UFC president Dana White revealed that Jiri Prochazka is likely dealing with the worst shoulder injury in UFC history. Shedding light upon the injury, White explained:
"This is the worst shoulder injury the doctors have seen in UFC history. It's really f**king bad. His shoulder is very, very bad. He's going to have serious surgery that will require extensive rehab."
Besides, ESPN MMA's Brett Okamoto later reported that Jiri Prochazka might be out for more than a year due to the injury's severity. The UFC has scrapped the Prochazka-Teixeira rematch for now.
Moreover, they've booked Magomed Ankalaev to fight former champion Jan Blachowicz for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 282. Presently, it's unclear whether the Ankalaev-Blachowicz winner will defend the belt against Teixeira next or wait for Prochazka to return.
