Tom Aspinall makes eye opening remark labeling “old f*rts” Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic’s fight the “most disputed” undisputed title clash
Tom Aspinall has weighed in on the UFC 309 main event between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic this weekend, believing it is one of the controversial undisputed title bouts in the promotion's history.
On Saturday (Nov.16), 'Bones' is set to defend his heavyweight title for the first time against Miocic, who is returning to the octagon after three years out from the sport. The bout has been met with major criticism as many, including Aspinall, believe Jones should fight him instead.
Aspinall, who is the interim heavyweight champion, has been seeking a bout against Jones since he picked up the belt at UFC 295 last year. The Mancunian has even defended the title, finishing Curtis Blaydes in the first round of their clash back in July.
Despite Tom Aspinall's calls for a unification bout, Jon Jones has consistently dismissed the idea of facing him, instead believing that beating Stipe Miocic will be better for his MMA legacy.
Aspinall weighed in on the situation during a recent interview with MainEvent. The 31-year-old, who is the backup fighter for the UFC 309 main event, went on the offensive, criticizing the fight and labeling both Jones and Miocic as "old f*rts." He said:
"This is a bit of a strange one because this fight, this weekend, is the most disputed undisputed heavyweight title ever because there's another champion. It's not Jon I'm after, it's the belt. He's got the belt and I want it... It's a fun fight [Jones vs. Miocic], but at the end of the day, it's two old f*rts. It's not two of the best heavyweights in the world."

Israel Adesanya weighs in on Jon Jones avoiding title fight with Tom Aspinall
Israel Adesanya recently shared his thoughts on the widespread assumption that Jon Jones is purposefully avoiding a title unification bout against Tom Aspinall.
Throughout the build-up to Jones' clash against Stipe Miocic this weekend, 'Bones' has regularly stated he isn't interested in facing Aspinall, as he doesn't believe it helps his legacy. This has since led to speculation that the 37-year-old is afraid of losing to the British fighter.
On his YouTube channel, Adesanya weighed in on the situation and gave a brutally honest take. According to the former middleweight champion, Jones may be hesitant to accept the fight due to the effects of his long career in MMA. Adesanya explained:
The thing is, when you're in this game for so long at the highest level, you get burnt out. But again, he's had time off because of things outside the octagon, which helped. Still, that's another load of stress you have to deal with in your own life. So, you get burnt out, and at some point, who knows?"
