Tom Aspinall reacts after Dana White names Jon Jones number one pound-for-pound fighter
Tom Aspinall defended his interim heavyweight title for the first time against Curtis Blaydes via first-round TKO in the co-main event of UFC 304. He has continued to angle for a title unification bout with Jon Jones despite the UFC revealing that 'Bones' will face Stipe Miocic next, as previously planned before Jones' injury.
The No.1-ranked heavyweight recently discussed UFC CEO Dana White's comments that the heavyweight champion remains the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport. Speaking on his self-titled YouTube channel, Aspinall stated:
"This week, actually, we've got a cracking video coming out. We're going to clap back, clapping back... We're after Jon Jones. We want the Jon Jones fight around here. We're trying to make it happen. Fans want to see it happen. Everyone wants to see it happen. Apparently, according to Mr. Dana White, the CEO, the main dog, the best - not even mixed martial artist promoter - the best combat sports promoter ever is saying that Jon Jones is the pound-for-pound No.1."
He continued:
"How do I feel about that? How do I feel about fighting the pound-for-pound No.1 in the world? Make sure you like and subscribe. You're going to find out this week. I'm going to reply to Dana White. I'm going to reply to Jon Jones. And we're coming for you, man. Jon Jones, we are coming for you on the channel - not just on the channel, we're coming for you in the octagon, as well."

While Aspinall has continued to angle for a title opportunity, 'Bones' is reportedly in line to make his return against Miocic at UFC 309 in November. The pair had been set to clash at UFC 295 last November prior to the injury that has kept Jones sidelined - and also opened the door for an interim heavyweight title.
Dana White believes Jon Jones will face Tom Aspinall before retiring
Jon Jones is nearing the end of an illustrious mixed martial arts career, which has led to him widely being considered the greatest of all time. UFC CEO Dana White recently revealed that he expects 'Bones' to face Tom Aspinall before retiring. Speaking to Kevin Iole, the promotional frontman stated:
"After Stipe and Jon fight, whoever wins, the Aspinall fight is even bigger... Jon Jones always loves to challenge himself, moved up to heavyweight. I don't know what Jon Jones will do after this fight, but I would be shocked if he didn't want to test himself against Aspinall."
