Tony Ferguson offers to train Jake Paul following his move to PFL

Following his venture into mixed martial arts, Jake Paul has understandably garnered a lot of attention. Tony Ferguson, a former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion, has now stated his interest in training the YouTube star for his eventual debut in the sport.

'The Problem Child' was already a huge celebrity prior to rising to fame in the world of boxing. But now he dominates the headlines, and news of him joining the PFL has been no different. The 25-year-old brings with him years of boxing experience and a heavy right hand, something he expects to utilize in the cage.

In a post on social media, Tony Ferguson called in support of Jake Paul and offered his assistance. The aspiring martial artist would want to learn under his guidance.

"Let me know when you need a good MMA coach Jake Paul. You can be one of my students - Champ," tweeted Tony Ferguson.

Jake has called for his debut in the Professional Fighters League to be against recent free agent Nate Diaz. The UFC legend and veteran of the sport has been embroiled in a feud with the internet celebrity for a number of years.

During his six-fight run in the boxing ring, the influencer managed to beat three former MMA champions and potential future Hall-of-Famers. His most impressive display was arguably his decision victory over Anderson Silva. But he does hold two phenomenal knockout wins over Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.

Jake Paul isn't just gunning for Nate Diaz, he has targeted a number of personalities from the UFC with Dana White and Conor McGregor being the most notable of them.

Tony Ferguson's dilemma

Tony Ferguson is still one of the most pulverizing names in the lightweight division. He is a legend of the UFC, despite not winning a fight since his TKO victory over Donald Cerrone in 2019.

His unique personality and violent fighting style have earned him a cult following in the sport. Many fans still believe he's the greatest 155er to ever walk the planet during his 12-fight win streak spanning over six years.

The downfall of 'El Cucuy' began when Justin Gaethje put on a striking masterclass at UFC 249 to claim the Interim Lightweight Championship. The fight was booked after the subsequent clash against then-champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was canceled.

While it doesn't seem like he'll be released from the promotion anytime soon, Ferguson will need to start re-finding form inside the cage before his future in the company is put in doubt.
