“Too good for my own good” - Jarred Brooks says he’s his own worst enemy when it comes to big fights
Jarred Brooks of the United States carries a lot of confidence each time he fights, but somehow, it could cost a lot.
This was proven in a crucial clash with Filipino star Joshua Pacio, where he lost his ONE strawweight MMA world title due to a disqualification after unintentionally slamming his opponent.
In retrospect, Brooks told BODYSLAM.NET Pro Wrestling YouTube Channel in a recent interview that he wasn't doing it on purpose, especially when he's fighting in the biggest stage of ONE Championship.
'The Monkey God' thought that it was the result of his training sessions, where he practiced the moves with his training partners without any significant damage.
He said:
"Personally, that was not a slam from me purposely. I'm used to picking up guys around 150-160, and they're landing half way on their toes by the time I'm picking them up like that, right? And I have their arm. They're still doing that."
The outspoken American then added:
"I think my hips were just too good, man. Too good for my own good."
Now that he's already claimed the ONE interim strawweight MMA belt after defeating Cuban contender Gustavo Balart, he's waiting for another chance for a unification match against his old foe, Pacio.

Jarred Brooks set to pursue new goals after Demetrious Johnson retires
ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks had to look for another means to establish his legacy after his dream fight with Demetrious Johnson no longer became an option.
The legendary flyweight king announced his retirement at ONE 168: Denver, and with that, Brooks can now focus on unifying the strawweight belts once his old foe is ready to compete following his injuries.
But, there is still a chance for Brooks to jump up onto the flyweight ranks, especially if he keeps winning in his current division.
Moreover, just because 'Mighty Mouse' is no longer there, it doesn't mean that he can't vie to be a two-division ruler, especially when he's able to set his undisputed status.
As we await what the future may hold for Jarred Brooks, check out the full replay of ONE 168: Denver, available on demand for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
