"Touch that pinky toe" - Dustin Poirier has cheeky suggestion for Conor McGregor following Irishman's latest tweet

Dustin Poirier cannot help himself from always trying to one-up Conor McGregor. After the former rivals re-engaged with each other on Instagram following a series of cryptic comments from 'The Notorious', Poirier took another shot at his former opponent on X.

McGregor, who is currently recovering from a broken toe, found himself going on another social media tirade on July 11, randomly tweeting that everything he touches "turns to gold." Poirier sarcastically issued a response referencing the Irishman's current injury.

Poirier tweeted:

"Touch that pinky toe"

The comment came one day after Poirier spoke on his relationship with McGregor on 'The MMA Hour,' telling Ariel Helwani that he often has to restrain himself from snapping back at his foe on social media.

Later that day, McGregor dropped a series of comments beneath an Instagram post of Poirier telling Helwani that Khabib Nurmagomedov was in the process of purchasing his UFC 302 fight kit for charity. In the comments, McGregor accused both Poirier and Nurmagomedov of being "broke scammers."

History between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor

Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor have never had a good relationship, extending as far back as 2014 when the two first met in the Octagon.

During the build to their first matchup, Poirier openly admitted that McGregor had gotten under his skin and would lose the fight by first-round knockout. Seven years later, the two would rematch in the lightweight division, this time with 'The Diamond' pulling off a shocking upset and winning by knockout.

Their 1-1 record led to a trilogy fight six months later which Poirier would win anticlimactically with McGregor breaking his leg at the end of the first round.

Three years after their third and seemingly final fight, McGregor has yet to return to the octagon, though their rivalry remains strong on social media.
