"Trying to get Amanda out of retirement" - Nina Nunes shares hilarious reaction to Dana White's MMA Mount Rushmore 2024

Dana White has some different faces on his MMA Mount Rushmore compared to a few years ago and the partner of who many see as the women's MMA GOAT has commented on the matter.

Nina Nunes, formerly known as Nina Ansaroff, made a comment on an MMA Junkie Instagram post showcasing the UFC bossman's top four all-time figures in mixed martial arts in 2020 as compared to the present day of 2024.

Amanda Nunes had placement within White's top four figures in the history of the young sport in 2020 alongside Jon Jones, Royce Gracie, and Chuck Liddell. As of 2024, Dana White's MMA mount rushmore ommitted the former UFC bantamweight and featherweight champion Nunes in favour of Ronda Rousey.

In his MMA Mount Rushmore, only Jones has remained, as White now spotlights Georges St. Pierre and Conor McGregor. The IG post got many in the combat sports world talking including Nina Nunes who commented:

Dana White and the time he booked Amanda Nunes vs. Ronda Rousey in the UFC

Dana White had many scratching their heads at this shft in his MMA Mount Rushmore structure considering how the Nunes versus Rousey fight played out. This transpired in December 2016 and sent both combatants on very different trajectories after it took place.

The two women headlined UFC 207 with Rousey looking to redeeem herself after her first MMA loss to Holy Holm and regain the UFC bantamweight title. This 135 pound crown was then-held by Amanda Nunes who was looking to notch that all important first championship defense in this blockbuster bout against one of the biggest stars in the sport's history.

It took Nunes all of forty eight seconds to dispatch Rousey with strikes and the latter has yet to compete in mixed martial arts since that fateful night. Ronda Rousey went on to achieve a lot within the world of WWE as Nunes carved out a massive legacy within the UFC.

'The Lioness' went 9-1 thereafter, avenged her lone MMA loss to Julianna Pena to become a multi-time bantamweight champion in the process, and also held the 145 pound title before it was dissolved by the promotion. Nunes' last fight was in June of last year with many in the MMA world wondering if UFC 289 will truly end up being the swan song from the sport for the revered athlete.
