Two-sport world champion Jonathan Haggerty honored to headline ONE's historic return to US soil
Jonathan Haggerty has achieved a lot in his career, but he still wants to tick off some firsts. The Brit has been able to compete at some massive events during his time in ONE Championship.
However, he missed out on the biggest event of the year in 2023 after he competed just before it took place.
Haggerty was able to dethrone Nong-O Hama to become the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion at ONE Fight Night 9. The very next month, the promotion debuted in the United States with ONE Fight Night being live in Broomfield, Colorado.
This time around, it's 'The General' that will headline ONE's return to the US when he looks to defend his title against Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168 in Denver.
Fights don't come much bigger than this, and Haggerty is grateful to have been given this platform for what could be the toughest fight of his career.
In a recent interview with The Sporting News, he spoke about what this fight and occasion means to him:
"It's my first time [competing in the US]," Haggerty said. "I'm very excited."
"I'm thankful that ONE Championship has given me this opportunity to fight in the main event and defend my title against such a great opponent in Superlek."
