Tyson Fury discusses Francis Ngannou beating Renan Ferreira, lauds ex-UFC star's rise to the top: "We're living inspirations"

Tyson Fury recently shared his thoughts on Francis Ngannou's victory over Renan Ferreira and praised the journey that propelled the former UFC heavyweight champion to the top of the combat sports world.

'The Predator' made a triumphant comeback to mixed martial arts with a first-round knockout over Ferreira at the PFL Super Fights event in Riyadh last month. This victory followed one of the most challenging periods of Ngannou's life as he grieved the loss of his 15-month-old son, Kobe, in April.

During a recent appearance on Pound 4 Pound, 'The Gypsy King' applauded Ngannou for his dominant performance against Ferreira and highlighted just how impressive it was considering the personal challenges the Cameroonian had been facing in his life:

"I thought he did absolutely fantastic with all the stuff that's been going on with his child. As a parent myself of seven kids, I know how difficult that must be—to lose a child and to go in there and knock out someone who a lot of people thought was going to beat you and to put on a great performance and get him out of there in the first round. It's unbelievable."

Fury further celebrated the rags-to-riches journey of 'The Predator,' describing it as an inspiring tale for anyone striving to overcome adversity:

"To come from Cameroon with not $10 in his pocket to France and get kicked out back and forth, and then to become a multi-millionaire, which I had a massive input in making him very rich myself, which I'm proud of—then absolutely, it's an inspiration for anybody. Because if he can do it, then anybody can do it, and if we all can do it, anyone can do it. I mean, we're living inspirations for people out there who don't have hope."

When Tyson Fury asserted he could "smash" Francis Ngannou’s face in MMA

Francis Ngannou faced Tyson Fury in professional boxing debut in October 2023. However, despite a strong showing, Ngannou ultimately fell short, losing by split decision.

After his defeat, Ngannou asserted that it was the boxing rules that ultimately favored 'The Gypsy King', insisting that had the fight has been under MMA rules, there would have been no chance for the Brit to secure a victory.

During an interview with DAZN Boxing in March, Fury revealed that once his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk is behind him, he could potentially face Ngannou in an MMA showdown. He boldly stated that he could defeat the Cameroonian powerhouse in the cage:

"Beyond boxing, after I get with Usyk twice, if Ngannou wins [against Anthony Joshua], I wanna go in the cage with him with the small gloves on, 100%. Because he was talking sh*t yesterday that boxing protects me, and I don't think so. I think I'll smash his face in the cage."
