Bryce Mitchell willing to step in if Alexander Volkanovski or 'The Korean Zombie' backs out UFC 273 headliner
Bryce Mitchell has claimed that he is ready to step in for either Alexander Volkanovski or 'The Korean Zombie' at UFC 273. Taking to Twitter, Mitchell made his intentions clear if either of the UFC 273 headliners fail to make it to the pay-per-view.
Mitchell is fresh off a win over veteran Edson Barboza, whom he defeated comprehensively at UFC 272. The win over Barboza was arguably Mitchell's biggest victory in the UFC so far.
Taking to Twitter, 'Thug Nasty' asked the UFC to give him a call if they needed him to fill in at UFC 273. Here's what he wrote:
"If Volkanovski or Zombie backs out - call me @ufc," wrote Bryce Mitchell.

Mitchell is the No.9-ranked featherweight in the UFC. He is undefeated in his MMA career, and it will be interesting to see who he fights next.
Alexander Volkanovski will defend the UFC featherweight title against 'The Korean Zombie'
Alexander Volkanovski emphatically captured the UFC featherweight championship in his first fight against Max Holloway at UFC 245 in 2019. Since then, Volkanovski has defended his championship twice, with the first being a rematch against Holloway at UFC 251.
Alexander Volkanovski's latest title defense was against Brian Ortega at UFC 266 in September 2021. 'The Great' successfully beat 'T-City' in a showdown which also earned the Fight of the Night honors.
Originally, Volkanovski was set to defend the UFC featherweight championship against Holloway in a trilogy fight at UFC 273. However, the former featherweight champion was forced to withdraw due to an injury. Holloway, who has recovered, further claimed that he is willing to weigh in as a backup fighter for the upcoming featherweight title bout.
Volkanovski, though, didn't take Holloway's offer too kindly. The champion called his rival out for it on Twitter. 'The Great' wrote:
"@BlessedMMA wants to be the backup fighter for the fight he was originally scheduled to fight. so in other words…he was never injured. Just hoping he doesn’t have to fight me or fight me while I’m preparing for someone…but hey 'if you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying'…NO"
As it stands, Alexander Volkanovski's main goal is to get past Chan Sung Jung on the 9th of April in Jacksonville, Florida, in the UFC 273 main event.
