UFC 308: Farid Basharat vs. Victor Hugo: Live round-by-round updates
UFC 308 features a bantamweight showdown between undefeated prospect Farid Basharat and explosive Brazilian contender Victor Hugo.
Basharat has quickly made a name for himself with a clean record and three consecutive UFC wins. His last outing saw him dominate seasoned French veteran Taylor Lapilus at UFC APEX via unanimous decision. 'Ferocious' also has six submission victories and one knockout win on his record.
Meanwhile, Hugo brings a natural penchant for finishes, with an impressive 17 stoppages in 25 wins. The Brazilian, a standout from Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) graduate in 2023, made his official UFC debut in April, securing a unanimous decision victory over Pedro Falcao. He wields a 25-4 professional record and will look to test Basharat’s unblemished record and fortitude in the upcoming fight.
The UFC 308 prelims kick off on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT. The main card follows exclusively on ESPN+ PPV at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT.

Round 1
Basharat opens up with a few leg kicks and Hugo answers back with a few of his own. Basharat forces a clinch against the cage but Hugo reverses the position. Hugo looks comfortable in the exchanges with the wide stance and solid kicks to the midsection. Hugo tries the leg lock with the modified imanari roll, specifically for the straight ankle lock. Basharat defends against the submission attempt after an early scare. They end up on the feet exchanging blows in the first round which has been a bit of a feeling-out process.

Round 2
Hugo tries to enter with a takedown attempt but Basharat catches him with a flying knee. Hugo keeps his composure, showing no signs of distress even when he briefly appears shaken. Both fighters are looking sharper in the exchanges. Hugo seems to be getting the better of the exchanges by cutting angles and maintaining a solid base with a wide stance. Hugo points to the ground and invites a wild exchange. He stifled Basharat with a left hook and followed up with a couple of right hands. He's finding success with the left hook now. Basharat tries to sneak in a few punches in the pocket but Hugo catches him with a hard elbow.

Round 3
Hugo is pushing the pace in the third frame and the left hook seems to finding its target. Both fighters hurt each other with straight punches and Basharat takes his rival down to generate some ground-and-pound. Hugo tries to sneak in a gogoplata attempt. Basharat defends against the submission attempt and maintains the dominant position to wear out his opponent. Hugo gets out of the unfavorable position, and lands a few hard shots, but ends up yielding to a takedown attempt. Basharat locks in a deep body triangle and lands a few strong elbows to close out the fight.
