UFC 310 fighter shares scary injury update after hospital visit with close-up photo of bruised face

Saturday's UFC 310 prelims featured thrilling action, culminating in a memorable slate of nine fights. Kennedy Nzechukwu, Chase Hooper, and Michael Chiesa all delivered outstanding performances, resulting in decisive victories. Joshua Van's electrifying performance against Cody Durden stole the show, demonstrating his quick striking and poise.

Van, a 23-year-old rising flyweight, dominated the final two rounds against Durden, landing powerful shots that battered the opponent. While Durden persevered until the final bell, Van's precision earned him a decisive victory. With a 5-1 UFC record, Van is poised to break into the Top 15, cementing his status as a future contender.

Durden’s defeat came with physical repercussions. Following the fight, he was transported to a local hospital for a precautionary CT scan after suffering a fractured orbital. He later shared an update on X, revealing he had experienced vision problems during the bout:

"Fight game is tough! Couldn’t see anything at some point in the 2nd round after a punch fractured my orbital! Just left the hospital,and I’ll be good soon! @JoshuaVanBT is the real deal. You won fairnsquare! Praying my vision comes back to normal soon! Love you all!"

UFC 310 delivered action-packed year-end spectacle

UFC 310 marked the end of the promotion's pay-per-view events scheduled for 2024 with an electrifying night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The event featured 14 fights spanning seven weight classes, with champions and rising stars showcasing their skills.

In the main event, flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja retained his title in an emphatic fashion, submitting Kai Asakura via rear-naked choke in the second round.

The co-main event saw Shavkat Rakhmonov outlast Ian Machado Garry in a welterweight title eliminator. In a clash of undefeated contenders, Rakhmonov’s grappling and cage control earned him a unanimous decision victory.

Heavyweights Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov revisited their rivalry, with Gane emerging victorious via a controversial split decision. Elsewhere, Bryce Mitchell secured a third-round TKO against Kron Gracie, and Doo-ho Choi delivered a TKO win over Nate Landwehr.

The prelims showcased Dominick Reyes’ TKO of Anthony Smith and Vicente Luque’s lightning-fast anaconda choke win. Rising talents Movsar Evloev and Bryan Battle also notched victories, while early prelim highlights included Eryk Anders’ TKO of Chris Weidman and Chase Hooper’s armbar submission over Clay Guida.
