UFC 4 fighter update today: Which fighters got a stat change? Is Alex Pereira in UFC 4 yet?
Earlier today, EA Sports released an update for one of their best-selling video games, UFC 4. Released in 2020, UFC 4 is the fourth installment in the EA Sports UFC series.
The latest update came a bit earlier than usual, surprising quite a few fans but also bringing some major developments to the fighters' stats. Considering the results of UFC 280, some big stat changes were to be expected.
With the latest updates, the game saw a change in some fighters' overall star ratings and skill levels.
Beniel Dariush, Sean O'Malley, and Song Yadong all saw their overall star rating change to 4.5 stars, along with boosts in their skill ratings, presumably as a result of their recent octagon performances. Meanwhile, other fighters like Petr Yan, Aljamain Sterling, Belal Muhammad, Charles Oliveira and Cory Sandhagen only saw changes in their skill ratings.

A recent topic of discussion among fans was a video posted by Alex 'Poatan' Pereira. He will face the middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in November. 'Poatan' posted a video on his Instagram account which showed a simulation of his character model beating Adesanya in the videogame.
However, fans were quick to point out that the latest update did not add Alex Pereira as a new playable character. The Pereira model in the video was presumably made with a CAF or create-a-fighter feature in the game. It's possible that a future update might add 'Poatan' to the game, considering his highly anticipated upcoming fight against Adesanya at UFC 281.
Update on UFC 5: Will it release in 2023?
If the release date rumors for UFC 5 are correct, fans may have to wait a bit longer than expected to be able to play it.
According to writer Tom Henderson, who has previously leaked video game information, UFC 5 is to be expected by the summer of 2023.
This marks a change in the release pattern of EA Sports, since the previous four installments of the game were launched with gaps of two years between them. This is the first time we may see an installment being released three years after its predecessor.
There was also talk of the Fight Night reboot being paused to allow work on the development of the new game. However, the next Fight Night installment could just be launched after UFC 5 comes out next year.
