UFC Abu Dhabi: Tony Ferguson vs. Michael Chiesa: Live round-by-round updates

Tony Ferguson and Michael Chiesa meet in Abu Dhabi with an opportunity to end their respective losing streaks.

It's no secret that Ferguson's fighting career has reached a disturbing phase. The former UFC interim lightweight champion has lost seven consecutive fights, including four inside the distance. 'El Cucuy' refuses to retire and hopes to turn things around with his first win since June 2019.

Meanwhile, Chiesa's losing streak isn't as brutal, but he has suffered three consecutive defeats, including two inside the distance. 'Maverick' plans to end his skid by being the latest fighter to defeat Ferguson.

Ferguson and Chiesa are better off fighting a fellow veteran than an up-and-comer looking to make a name for themselves. Barring a draw or no contest, one of these welterweight fighters will leave UFC Abu Dhabi with a much-needed win.

Round 1:

Tony Ferguson vs. Michael Chiesa is underway. Both fighters are feeling each other out by moving around the Octagon without throwing any strikes. Chiesa opens the action with a body kick. Ferguson continues moving forward.

Ferguson lands a couple of punches and Chiesa counters moments later with an inside hook. There hasn't been much action in the first half of this round. Ferguson is trying to hunt down Chiesa, who is picking his shots and finding his distance.

Chiesa closes the distance and grabs Ferguson. Chiesa quickly gets the fight to the ground and moves down Ferguson's back. Chiesa has a rear-naked choke locked in and Ferguson is forced to tap out. It's all over.
