UFC debutant Bo Nickal claims he "stuffed" a Jon Jones takedown
UFC newcomer Bo Nickal has claimed he "stuffed" a takedown from Jon Jones after the pair met at the UFC's Performance Institute earlier this week.
Nickal is set to make his UFC debut this weekend when he faces Jamie Pickett at UFC 285 in a middleweight bout. A former three-time NCAA Division I national champion in wrestling, Nickal has seriously impressed UFC's top brass after appearing on Dana White's Contender Series (DWCS) twice last year.
The 27-year-old won both of his bouts in the first-round via submissions as he demonstrated his high-level wrestling.
'The Allen Assassin' appeared in front of the press at UFC 285's media day this week and was asked about his experience meeting Jon Jones. Bo Nickal stated that he aspires to hit the same heights as 'Bones' has during his career and claimed he stuffed a takedown from the former 205lb champ:
"It's super motivating for me. I remember being in the fifth or sixth grade, watching UFC events and seeing Jones dismantle people. To be on the same card as him is a big honor...I was able to meet him yesterday at the PI, he tried to take me down but I obviously stuffed that and ran around and got behind him...He had a pretty strong grip, but it was straight wrestling so I have the advantage."

Bo Nickal expects to face Khamzat Chimaev in the future
After two dominant appearances in Dana White's Contender Series, Bo Nickal has been tipped as one of the brightest prospects in the middleweight division.
Due to his dominance, where he was able to demonstrate his high-level wrestling, many, including Nickal himself, have wondered how he would hold up against welterweight star Khamzat Chimaev.
Speaking to the press at UFC 285's media day, Nickal addressed a potential bout with Chimaev and claimed their future fight could be one of the biggest events in UFC history:
"It would be huge. Obviously, he has a lot of attention. He's probably the biggest, most hyped guy coming up right now that hasn't won a belt yet, and I think that eventually us clashing is inevitable. That's something that I visualize in my training, when I'm in a hard workout, getting my last bike sprint in, getting my last rep in. In the weight room, I'm visualizing that.
"Whether that fight comes in a year or in three years or in five years - whatever it is, I'll be ready. I do a lot of visualization and I see that fight happening [as a] main event in Raiders stadium, in front of whatever hundred thousand people and I think it would be the biggest event in UFC history."
