UFC Edmonton just wrapped up and the event managed to deliver several exciting moments. The Fight Night took place on Nov. 2 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada.
The card had an attendance of 16,439 people and earned a gate revenue of $2.6 million. The event broke a UFC record by becoming the highest grossing UFC Fight Night event in North America.
The main event featured a flyweight banger between Amir Albazi and Brandon Moreno.
'The Assassin Baby' made a triumphant return to the octagon as he dominated Albazi throughout the five-round fight and took home a unanimous decision victory. The three judges scored the bout 49-46, 50-45 and 50-45 in favor of the Mexican.
During the fight, Moreno broke Demetrious Johnson's UFC record for most significant strikes (1059) in the flyweight division and crossed the 1,100 mark in the fifth round.
With the victory, Moreno is now tied with Deiveson Figueiredo for the most wins (10) in UFC flyweight history.
One notable moment of the event came during a bantamweight scrap between Cody Gibson and Chad Anheliger that took place on the prelims. Gibson made UFC history as he became the first fighter to legally cut his opponent with a 12-to-6 elbow.
Meanwhile, Youssef Zalal and Jack Shore went toe-to-toe in a featherweight bout in the preliminary card of the UFC Edmonton event. 'The Moroccan Devil' submitted Shore with an arm-triangle choke in the second round of the fight.
With the victory, Zalal is now tied with Shavkat Rakhmonov for the longest active UFC submission streak (3). His victory earned him a Performance of the Night (POTN) bonus worth $50,000.
Charles Jourdain, Jasmine Jasudavicius and Dustin Stoltzfus also scored impressive finishes in their respective bouts. All three of them received a POTN bonus worth $50,000 each for their efforts.
