UFC featherweight claims viral video of Leon Edwards' basketball trick shot might come to be known as an "ad a week later"
UFC featherweight Sodiq Yusuff suggested Leon Edwards' basketball trick shot video could have been staged.
Later this week, 'Rocky' looks to extend his UFC welterweight title run that started with a legendary knockout against Kamaru Usman. The latest chapter of Edwards' journey involves a clash in the UFC 304 main event with Belal Muhammad, who is riding a nine-fight winning streak.
Heading into UFC 304, Edwards has been all over social media for something other than fighting. A video went viral of the UFC welterweight king running in the street when fans asked him to shoot a basketball. 'Rocky' kicked the ball from a long distance and made the shot, electrifying the crowd.
Fans on social media were shocked to see Edwards make the difficult trick shot. Meanwhile, UFC featherweight Sodiq Yusuff was skeptical of the legitimacy of the footage and reacted by saying this on Twitter:
"I feel like this is one of those things we find out was a ad a week later"
Yusuff suggested that Leon Edwards potentially staged the trick shot to generate attention for UFC 304. If Yusuff is correct, Edwards and his team accomplished their goal as the video generated millions of views.

Leon Edwards looks to deny Belal Muhammad of legacy-defining win
In March 2021, Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad fought inside the UFC APEX. The welterweight contender bout ended in disappointment, as Edwards landed an unintentional eye poke in round two, leading to a no-contest.
Since then, Muhammad has scratched and clawed his way to the top of the division to secure a rematch against Edwards. 'Remember The Name' has waited patiently for his opportunity since defeating Gilbert Burns in May 2023.
Muhammad has been overlooked throughout his fighting career. He now looks to silence the doubters and solidify his legacy by potentially dethroning Edwards to become the new UFC welterweight king.
Meanwhile, Edwards has changed his life for the better by becoming a UFC champion. The 32-year-old isn't ready for his title reign to end, especially at UFC 304 when he fights in front of his home country of England.
