UFC fighter shares unpopular opinion about Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz

Celebrity boxing superstar Jake Paul has officially signed a multi-year deal with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) and is set to make his MMA debut in the newly minted "Super Fight" division of the promotion.

In a recent post on Paul's Instagram handle, he called out UFC veteran Nate Diaz for a unique two-fight affair. As per the YouTuber's offer, the duo would first face each other in the boxing ring, followed by an MMA bout in PFL six months later.

Reacting to the unique callout, UFC fighter Renato Moicano tweeted that it was easier for 'The Problem Child' to trump the Stockton native in MMA than for Diaz to beat the 25-year-old in boxing. The fighter's tweet read:

"Unpopular opinion… it’s easier Jake Paul beat Diaz in a MMA match than Dias beat Jake in boxing!!!"
Unpopular opinion… it’s easier Jake Paul beat Diaz in a mma match than Dias beat Jake in boxing!!! #mma #ufc #boxing

However, it is safe to say that not all agree with the Brazilian's assessment. A recent projected odds for the match-up by BetOnline, put 'The Problem Child' as the favorite for the boxing match while pegging Diaz as a massive favorite for the possible MMA fight.

Jake Paul clearly has more pro boxing experience than the UFC veteran and currently holds an undefeated boxing record of six wins. He also holds a few major victories against big combat sports names such as Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley.

But when it comes to MMA, Nate Diaz has the upper hand. The former UFC star holds an extensive resume consisting of 21 wins against 13 losses. The 37-year-old is yet to make a foray into pro-boxing. Similarly, Paul has never fought in the octagon.

When Jake Paul offered to fight Nate Diaz in MMA for free

Earlier last year, Jake Paul offered to step into the octagon as Nate Diaz's last UFC opponent for free, provided Dana White accepted some of the celebrity boxing star's demands.

In a July 2022 interview with ESPN MMA, 'The Problem Child' said that he would happily take on Diaz in MMA if the UFC president raises the minimum pay for the promotion's athletes to $50k and gives them health care benefits:

"Look, I'll be Nate Diaz's last fight in the UFC. I'll throw on the MMA gloves and fight him for free as long as Dana White increases the minimum fighter pay to 50k and gives them healthcare benefits. And that was my deal."
