UFC lightweight contender takes insulting jibe at Dan Hooker for promoting Dana White's Power Slap League

Dan Hooker appears to be a massive fan of Dana White's Power Slap League, as the Kiwi took to Twitter recently to express how much he enjoys the show. However, Hooker has joined a small section of combat sports fans who like the show, as many fans and fighters are less than positive about White's latest venture.

'The Hangman' recently posted a tweet claiming that Power Slap League was his new favorite show:

"SLAP is my new favorite show."
"It’s like fighting but we skip the bulls**t and get straight to the knockouts."

SLAP is my new favorite show 🔥
It’s like fighting but we skip the bullshit and get straight to the knockouts

This irritated fellow UFC lightweight Matt Frevola to the point where he posted an insulting image in response, which implied that Hooker was being a servile follower and a company man for the UFC.

While 'The Hangman' may find entertainment in the knockouts, much of the negative attention surrounding the Power Slap League has to do with competitors not being able to defend themselves at all.

Many fans and MMA pundits feel that the league has created an environment for senseless knockouts and a one-way ticket to a traumatic brain injury.

Prominent MMA journalist Ariel Helwani recently expressed his bewilderment that the Nevada State Athletic Commission granted Dana White a license for the league:

"Can you script it any worse? Shame on anyone who's covering that. Shame on all of you, that's not sport. Shame on Nevada. They sanctioned that?! You're kidding me?! No defense! Shame on the fighters who have to take part in it, shame on all of 'em."

FACTS.

And I don’t want to hear ‘it’s their choice’ or ‘they’d do it anyway’

Shame on everyone who was complicit in sanctioning this as some charade of ‘safe’ combat sport twitter.com/NoContextAriel…

Dan Hooker speaks on fight with Jalin Turner at UFC 285

Dan Hooker is set to face Jalin Turner on March 4 at UFC 285 as he continues his climb back to the top echelon of the lightweight division.

'The Hangman' recently suffered several losses to top contenders like Michael Chandler and Islam Makhachev. But a stellar performance against Claudio Puelles at UFC 281 has moved Hooker up to No.11 in the UFC lightweight rankings.

Turner is ranked No.10 and will enter the octagon at UFC 285 on a five-fight win streak.

Dan Hooker announced the matchup during an interview with Oscar Willis of TheMacLife and said:

"He's in the top 10... it's a good fight, #11 vs. #10... He's good... I know he's a talented fighter, a good finisher, I'm excited to go out there and test our skills."
