Staph infections are caused by a bacteria known as staphylococcus bacteria. Most of the time, these bacteria cause no problems or only minor skin infections. It is common among fighters to develop these kinds of infections. However, it can become fatal if the bacteria enters one's bloodstream, joints, bones, lungs, or heart.
