UFC lightweight taunts Paddy Pimblett for avoiding him, challenges 'The Baddy' to April clash in New York
Paddy Pimblett has garnered significant attention during his short stint in the UFC. The Scouser's charismatic and brash persona has put the UFC lightweight division on notice, and it seems that Matt Frevola is eager to put an end to Pimblett's rise.
Frevola recently took to Twitter to call out 'The Baddy', whose record in the UFC was extended to 4-0 after beating Jared Gordon at UFC 282. The fight was far less one-sided than fans imagined it would be, and UFC lightweights from top to bottom are now licking their lips at the chance to fight Pimblett.
'The Steamrolla' called out the Liverpool native via Twitter, which caused him to go back and forth with an MMA fan.
Frevola said the following:
"Did you mention me on the @joerogan pod or does Paddy have a gag order to anyone mentioning me & him in the same sentance? @stoolpresidente April 8th at the Barclays Center or scared"
"It's not stupid if it's true bozo. He's 4-0 in the UFC. Time to put his big boy pants on lad."
Matt Frevola is not the only 155-pound fighter to call out Paddy Pimblett. Fellow unranked lightweight Terrance McKinney has also name-dropped 'The Baddy' numerous times on Twitter.
Michael Bisping believes Paddy Pimblett must humble himself - "You're s**t still stinks"
Paddy Pimblett seemingly saw his popularity dwindle overnight during fight week for UFC 282 in December 2022.
The first domino fell when Pimblett invited Dana White, the promotion's president, onto his podcast Chattin Pony.
The seemingly harmless podcast turned controversial when the pair sounded off on prominent MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. Pimblett dished out the majority of the abuse and forced Helwani to reply on his own podcast, The MMA Hour, where he had evidence to disprove Pimblett's claims.
Many fans sided with Helwani and the Scouser's fanbase began to turn on him. 'The Baddy' was then involved in a close fight with Jared Gordon, which he won controversially. But it was Pimblett's utter dismissal of any suggestion that the fight was 'close' that sent fans over the edge.
Michael Bisping, someone who was arguably the most disliked UFC fighter for a period of his career, knows exactly what is needed to get fans back on side. 'The Count' went from zero to hero in the eyes of many and is adored today.
During a recent episode of Bisping's Believe You Me podcast, he suggested what Paddy Pimblett could do to regain his fanbase. 'The Count' said this:
"You're young, get a lot of attention and some of it goes to your head. You can start to think you're s**t doesn't stink. [But] you're s**t still stinks. It doesn't matter how big you get. I think what Paddy needs to do is humble himself a little bit."
