UFC lightweight veteran thanks the UFC and Dana White for seemingly providing healthcare for the last two years
UFC lightweight veteran John Makdessi recently shared his heartfelt gratitude with Dana White and the UFC for taking care of his medical bills over the last two years. According to Makdessi, the promotion took care of all of his "injuries and surgeries" during a period that was personally distressing for the Canadian. Seemingly plotting a return to the octagon, 'The Bull' wrote:
"I want to say thank you 🙏🏻 @ufc @danawhite for taking care of all my injuries and surgeries I’ve suffered in the last past 2 yrs. It’s been a difficult time for me personally. I’ve dedicated myself to MMA. I’m very grateful for the support and help. I can’t wait to get back.✊🏻"
John Makdessi's UFC career has been riddled with injuries to the point where 'The Bull' last fought thrice in the same year back in 2015. The Canadian has since been able to compete only once or twice a year, amassing a 5-3 record over that period. However, the 37-year-old is coming of a unanimous decision loss to Nasrat Haqparast in September and has dropped two of his last three.
Dana White claims active UFC fighters are "well taken care of"
Dana White recently faced a lot of criticism over UFC fighter pay and healthcare. While the UFC president believes lifelong healthcare is a 'crazy' concept, he is seemingly taking care of his active fighters.
Former UFC middleweight champ Luke Rockhold recently voiced his grievances with the promotion, citing a lack of long-term healthcare, among other things. Dana White responded by claiming to have done more for Rockhold than any insurance plan would have. The UFC head honcho also asserted that his fighters get "unbelievable healthcare" whilst they are active. The 53-year-old told TSN:
“That’s something we’ve been working on since day one. While they’re fighting here, these guys are very well taken care of, and so is Luke Rockhold... I don’t give a s—t what health insurance plan you have, they would have never covered the things that we covered for Luke Rockhold when he was going through his stuff... Everybody who fights here gets unbelievable healthcare. Unbelievable healthcare. I mean, we don’t even sew people up with regular doctors. If it’s bad enough, we send them to plastic surgeons to get sewn up.” h/t MMA Junkie
