UFC middleweight shares hilarious take on Conor McGregor claiming to be the "only logical choice" for Ireland's next President
Conor McGregor without an official fight lined up, can be a very political-minded Conor McGregor. Left with a lot of time on his hands, 'The Notorious' tends to shift his focus on his beloved country of Ireland, where he's been very outspoken about the flaws and limitations of his current government.
The fighting Irishman even went as far as suggesting that he run for the presidency and make the necessary changes for his people. He recently posted a lengthy tweet, enumerating what he'd do if ever he ran for office in 2025:
"As President I hold the power to summon the Dáil as well as dissolve it. So as i said before, I would have all the answers the people of Ireland seek from these thieves of the working man, these disrupters of the family unit, these destructors of small businesses, and on and on and on! These charlatans in their positions of power would be summoned to answer to the people of Ireland and I would have it done by day end. Or I would be left with no choice but to dissolve the Dáil entirely."
McGregor continued:
"Stop the train until. The people of Ireland deserve the answers they seek. Point blank. This would be my power as President. I know very well. Ireland needs an active President employed wholly by the people of Ireland. It is me. I am the only logical choice. 2025 is upcoming…"
While quite a few Irish fans agreed with Conor McGregor, UFC middleweight Chris Curtis found the far-fetched notion of a pro fighter running for presidency hilarious, saying:
"Bro... @TheNotoriousMMA just downloaded the LIFE DLC and decided to do a boss run! 😂😂😂."
Conor McGregor criticizes Ireland's immigration system: "BETRAYAL OF OUR COUNTRY"
In another series of tweets posted last month, 'The Notorious' was quite passionate about airing his grievances when it comes to Ireland's immigration system. The former two-division UFC champion noticed holes in his country's policies on letting foreign individuals enter their borders. He further insinuated that this may have led to his country's suffering.
The tweet read:
"For too long Ireland has put up with policies that do not ensure that those entering our country are of the character, skills and desire to benefit Ireland. WE WILL NEVER ACCEPT THIS BETRAYAL OF OUR COUNTRY."
You cannot deny McGregor's unwavering commitment to his country. He arguably put Ireland on the map ever since he stepped inside the octagon by simply wearing his country's colors and expressing his Irish pride.
