UFC rankings update (August 13, 2024): Significant movement in light heavyweight and women's bantamweight divisions, Serghei Spivac moves up

The conclusion of the UFC Vegas 95 showcase on August 10, 2024, has led to some shifts in the rankings order. The women's bantamweight division and the light heavyweight bracket in particular have seen some significant movement in the rankings ladder.

Yana Santos collected a much-needed decisive victory on Saturday following a three-fight losing skid, putting Chelsea Chandler through the grind in their three-round catchweight fight. Chandler, who missed weight by five pounds over the bantamweight non-title fight limit, couldn't keep up with the pace, volume, and experience of Santos. The judges scored the bout unanimously in favor of the Russian UFC veteran.

With this win, Santos jumped two spots to occupy the No.10 rank in the women's 135-pound ladder, while Chandler dropped to the fifteenth position. Meanwhile, Karol Rosa, who picked up a decisive unanimous decision win over Pannie Kianzad, solidified her standing in the No. 8 position while her opponent dropped to No.12 in the women's 135-pound bubble.

As for the light heavyweight division, Roman Dolidze was dropped out of the top-15 rankings while Alonzo Menifield occupies the No.15 spot in the bubble despite a two-fight losing skid. Former title challenger Dominick Reyes, who returned to winning ways against Dustin Jacoby, progresses in the rankings, holding the No. 13 spot. He traded places with Bogdan Guskov, who fell to the No. 14 position.

Serghei Spivac made a resounding statement against Marcin Tybura at UFC Vegas 95 with a first-round armbar submission win. With this victory, he's closing in on the top-five bubble and a potential title shot in the future. As of today, he shares the No.7 rank with former two-time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. On the other hand, Taibura's defeat against Spivac saw him lose ground and fall to the No.9 spot.

Serghei Spivac responds to Jailton Almedia's callout post-UFC Vegas 95 victory

Serghei Spivac avenged his loss against Marcin Tybura back in February 2020 with a first-round submission triumph at the recently concluded UFC Vegas 95 event.

Following the win, No.6 ranked heavyweight contender Jailton Almeida called out the Moldovan for a potential scrap on X. He wrote:

"Spivac, do you want someone above you in the rankings? I'm here!! #7 vs #8 . I want to fight Bro! Happy you get the finish early, so, we can fight soon!"

Spivac issued a three-word response to Almeida at the post-fight press conference, saying:

"Let him train."
