UFC's Themba Gorimbo reveals why he's broke and had to take Colby Covington's help
UFC welterweight Themba Gorimbo has revealed why he's broke. In a recent interview with MMA Mania, the 32-year-old revealed that he owns a gym in South Africa which is the reason why he is often left with no money. As such, he had to take help from teammate Colby Covington when he moved to Miami.
Gorimbo revealed that he allows people, especially amateur fighters and kids to come and train at the gym for free. As a result, the gym is not a stable source of income. Instead, he has to put in money from his own pocket to run it. He told MMA Mania:
"I own a gym in South Africa. The reason I am probably broke is not because I don't use my money wisely. It's because this gym does not make me money. This gym is like for African kids that I let them come and train in my gym for free."
Gorimbo added:
"People don't know, they'll be like oh he must not have used his money wisely. Yes, I make money but at the end of the day, I have a gym in South Africa that does not make me money. Everybody is just taking, taking, taking, I'm putting, putting, putting, you know?"

Themba Gorimbo claims Colby Covington is a "great man"
Themba Gorimbo was recently seen in action against Takashi Sato at UFC Fight Night: Dern vs. Hill. Following his first victory, the 32-year-old spoke highly of his teammate Colby Covington.
The UFC welterweight has recently changed gyms and joined Covington at MMA Masters in Miami, Florida. Speaking on how helpful 'Chaos' has been to him, Gorimbo had this to say at the post-fight press conference:
“Colby Covington, he’s such a great guy, man. Colby Covington, sometimes you bring food for me at the gym, you know. And people say what they want to say about him. But that guy is a great man, man. You have to know him to kind of know him. Just like me, you have to know me to kind of know me, you know. At the end of the day it’s just business. And I found home and I’m going all the way to the belt with the gym that I have now... And I have kind of found my serenity myself in Miami.”
