"Congrats ladies"- UFC star Conor McGregor shares iconic 'champ-champ' speech in support of Irish women's national football team amid controversy for singing IRA-supportive song

Conor McGregor has expressed his support for the Irish women's national football team amid their ongoing controversy for singing lyrics that praised the Irish Republican Army.

The Republic of Ireland women's national football created history by defeating Scotland to qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup to be held in 2023. This is the first time that the team has fared well in a major tournament. However, their celebrations were shortlived as controversy was stirred after the players were found singing a pro-IRA song.

Players Aine O'Gorman and Chloe Mustaki, as well as team manager Vera Pauw, extended their apologies for the incident. The Union of European Football Associations also issued a statement regarding the matter which stated:

“In accordance with Article 31(4) of the UEFA disciplinary regulations, a UEFA ethics and disciplinary inspector will investigate potential inappropriate behaviour by players of the Republic of Ireland Women’s team in the aftermath of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers play-off second leg match played against Scotland on October 11, 2022.”

Immediately the video transitions to McGregor's iconic UFC 205 post-fight interview where he states:

"I just want to say from the bottom of me heart, I would like to take this chance to apologize to absolutely nobody!"
