UFC Vegas 100: Neil Magny vs. Carlos Prates: Full results

UFC Vegas 100 just wrapped up. The event took place at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Nov. 9 and featured 11 fights in five weight classes. UFC Apex was the promotion's only venue for USA-based events during the COVID-19 pandemic, starting from the UFC Vegas 1 event headlined by Tyron Woodley vs. Gilbert Burns.

The UFC continues to host selected events at the venue and UFC Vegas 100 marked an important milestone. This article recaps the event and explores the full results.

In the five-round main event, No.15-ranked welterweight contender Neil Magny fought rising contender Carlos Prates. Magny, a perennial contender and a veteran of the division, was coming off a first-round TKO loss against Michael Morales in August.

Meanwhile, Prates was on a three-fight win streak in the UFC since earning the contract through 'Dana White's Contender Series'. Having put on a striking clinic against Li Jingliang en route to a KO victory on his last outing, Prates had the momentum on his side.

On Saturday, Prates proved to be the better fighter in the striking and grappling department. He established a takedown threat early in Round 1 and pieced Magny up with stinging shots. A left hook from the Brazilian in the waning seconds of the round clipped Magny on the temple as he crashed down to the canvas.

The finishing strike was similar to Conor McGregor's KO of Dustin Poirier at UFC 178. No follow-up strikes were needed as the referee waved off the fight after Magny hit the canvas. With the victory, Prates extended his UFC record to a perfect 4-0 (4 KOs).

In the co-main event, Gerald Meerschaert welcomed Reinier de Ridder to the UFC in a three-round middleweight contest. A former two-division ONE Championship title holder, de Ridder has been one of the high-profile new entrants to the UFC and there was a lot of intrigue surrounding his promotional debut.

In the fight, de Ridder appeared to have the edge in striking while Meerschaert made things competitive on the ground. The Dutchman had the most significant moment of the fight when he dropped Meerschaert with a left hook in the closing moments of Round 1. De Ridder got a much-needed takedown in Round 3 and finished the UFC veteran with an arm triangle choke.

UFC Vegas 100: Main card results

Gaston Bolanos and Cortavious Romious put on an entertaining three-round battle on the main card. Both men had their moments in the fight but Bolanos did enough to convince all three judges. However, fans were outraged as one of the judges scored the contest 30-26 in Bolanos' favor.

No.15-ranked strawweight contender Gillian Robertson went up against No.13-ranked Luana Pinheiro on the main card. Robertson managed to take the fight to the ground in Round 1 but had little success with ground-and-pound or submission attempts. Pinheiro offered good resistance and kept the fight standing in the middle round. Robertson dominated the third round en route to a unanimous decision win.

In the main card opening bout, Mansur Abdul-Malik assumed an aggressive posture and quickly put Dusko Todorovic to the mat with a combination. Tudorovic threatened submissions from the bottom position but it did little to deter the Xtreme Couture standout.

Todorovic managed to get back on his feet but was knocked down with a devastating knee. Abdul-Malik continued to throw ground-and-pound strikes from the standing position. The referee stopped the fight as Tudorovic offered little resistance.

UFC Vegas 100: Preliminary card results

In the preliminary card headlining bout, former kickboxing world champion and UFC title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz fought Brazil's Denise Gomez. Kowalkiewicz had early success striking at a distance. However, Gomez succeeded in backing her against the cage and got the better of her in the clinch. She slowly took over the fight and walked away with a unanimous decision win.

A seasoned veteran of the welterweight division, Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, beat Zachary Scroggin by Round 1 KO. Dos Santos distracted Scroggin with leg kicks to create an opening for his punches. A punishing blow to the head dropped Scroggin and dos Santos continued with follow-up attacks until the referee stopped the action.

Welterweight contender Charles Radtke, who was coming off a KO defeat against event's headliner Carlos Prates in his last outing, scored a statement win over Matthew Semelsberger at UFC Vegas 100. Radtke backed his opponent against the cage and put him down with back-to-back left hooks. The referee stepped in to stop the action after a few follow-up strikes. The end came at the 51-second mark of Round 1.

Bantamweight veteran Cody Stamann had a good start to his fight against Da'Mon Blackshear as he displayed effective distance striking. However, a flying knee rattled him and Blackshear did not allow Stamann to recover. After transitioning through a couple of submission attempts on the ground, Blackshear finished the fight with a rear-naked choke in Round 1.

Elsewhere, TUF 29 finalist Tresean Gore pulled off his trademark guillotine choke to get a win over Antonio Trocoli.

In the first fight of the night, Melissa Mullins handed promotional newcomer Klaudia Sygula a second-round TKO defeat. After spending the majority of the first round in the feeling-out process, Mullins came out aggressively in Round 2 and finished by ground and pound.
