UFC Vegas 96 bonuses and aftermath: Caio Borralho bags $50K, Anderson Silva's record broken, WMMA history made, and more statsĀ
UFC Vegas 96 was quite literally one for the history books. Several records were made and a few long-standing ones were broken at the UFC Apex this weekend.
The middleweight main event between former title challenger Jared Cannonier and the No.12-ranked Caio Borralho won the Fight of the Night. Borralho outclassed 'The Killa Gorilla' to clinch a unanimous decision win at the event. Both men will take home an extra $50,000.
Additionally, the Brazilian now has the second-longest active UFC middleweight win streak at seven victories.
The $50K Performance of the Night bonuses were bagged by Gerald Meerschaert and Michael Morales.
'GM3' took on Edmen Shahbazyan in the first fight of the main card. After almost getting TKOd, Meerschaert made a spectacular comeback in the second round to win via an arm triangle submission.
Now with 12 finishes at 185 pounds, 'GM3' has broken Anderson Silva's long-standing divisional record for the most finishes.
Surging up-and-comer Morales soldiered through early adversity to claim a first-round TKO win over Neil Magny. With his fifth straight win, the Ecuadorian has tied Michael Pereira for the third-longest active win streak at welterweight.
In the co-main event, Tabatha Ricci defeated Angela Hill via unanimous decision. She is now tied with Loopy Godinez and Amanda Lemos for the most number of UFC strawweight wins since 2021.
Despite the loss, Hill also achieved an enviable stat this time around. She now has 27 UFC octagon appearances, only one behind Jessica Andrade, who holds the record for most promotional appearances by a woman.
Debutant Wang Cong set the record for the fastest debut win in UFC women's flyweight history claiming a 62-second TKO over Victoria Leonardo.
Furthermore, 'The Ultimate Fighter' (TUF) 32 finales were also part of the fight card. Brazilian Mairo Santo from Team Alexa Grasso won the featherweight final, with a second-round KO over Kaan Ofli.
In the welterweight finale, Ryan Loder from Team Valentina Shevchenko claimed a second-round TKO over Switzerland's Robert Valentin. TUF 32 winners will be granted a UFC contract.
UFC Vegas 96 is the 703rd UFC event, the promotion's 241st event in Las Vegas, and its 103rd event from Apex.
