UFC Vegas 96: How much are Jared Cannonier and Caio Borralho making? Estimated payouts reported
Next week's UFC Vegas 96 features a battle between ranked middleweights Jared Cannonier and Caio Borralho.
On August 24, the UFC returns to the APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada for a fight night event featuring ten matchups. In the main event, number five-ranked Cannonier looks to hold his spot in the rankings against number twelve-ranked Borralho.
In July 2022, Cannonier came up short in his attempt to dethrone UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. 'Killa Gorilla' rebounded with decision wins against Sean Strickland and Marvin Vettori before suffering a setback against Nassourdine Imavov via fourth-round TKO.
Cannonier has fought under the UFC banner seventeen times, likely putting him on his fourth or fifth contract with the promotion. Assuming he gradually increased his pay, a rough estimate for the 40-year-old's UFC Vegas 96 main event earnings is between $200,000 and $300,000.
Meanwhile, Borralho made his UFC debut in April 2022. Since that time, the Brazilian contender has secured six wins, including a second-round submission of Paul Craig in his last Octagon appearance.
While it's unconfirmed, Borralho is likely on his second UFC contract. The 31-year-old's estimated payout for next Saturday's main event is $100,000-$150,000, with a chance to make more with a win/performance bonus.
It should be noted that the fighters and their managers could heavily dispute the previously mentioned estimates.
Who else is fighting at UFC Vegas 96?
UFC Vegas 96 is expected to have ten fights. In the co-main event, unranked middleweights Edmen Shahbazyan and Gerald Meerschaert will battle after earning recent Octagon wins.
The following two matchups are also scheduled for the main card, with one preliminary bout likely being bumped up: Michael Morales vs. Neil Magny (welterweight) and Angela Hill vs. Tabatha Ricci (women's strawweight).
Next Saturday's preliminary card features Dennis Buzukja vs. Danny Silva (featherweight), Jose Medina vs. Zach Reese (middleweight), Viacheslav Borschev vs. James Llontop (lightweight), Josiane Nunes vs. Jacqueline Cavalcanti (women's bantamweight) and Cong Wang vs. Victoria Leonardo (women's flyweight).
Lastly, the 'Ultimate Fighter Season 32' middleweight championship fight has recently been added to the event. American grappler Ryan Loder looks to secure a UFC contract against the unpredictable Robert Valentin.
