UFC veteran calls Michael Chandler "weatherman" for staying "noble" in pursuit of Conor McGregor fight despite UFC 303 disappointment

UFC veteran Chael Sonnen believes Michael Chandler must move on from wanting to face Conor McGregor in order to avoid further embarrassment.

Chandler vs. McGregor has been in the works since Jan. 2023 after Dana White announced the pair would be coaching opposite one another on season 31 of 'The Ultimate Fighter'. They were then expected to face-off at the culmination of the show, however, it never materialized.

It was then announced in April 2024, following the UFC 300 pay-per-view, that McGregor and Chandler would headline the UFC 303 card on June 29 in Las Vegas. Once again though, the bout fell through after 'The Notorious' withdrew from the bout due to a broken toe.

The delay in their bout now means 'Iron' is approaching two years since he last appeared in the octagon.

'The American Gangster', who was speaking on the latest episode of his Good Guy / Bad Guy podcast, has called for Chandler to move on from his desire to face McGregor.

Sonnen compared the situation to a "weatherman" that's trying to report on a rain storm in the desert. He said:

"[Chandler] is assuming his new role as a weatherman...He's asking for a fight with Conor McGregor that simply can't happen but he's staying noble...Picture Michael Chandler wearing rain gear. I'm talking about the yellow jacket, the hood is up, he's got a microphone. He's broadcasting a potential storm coming while he's standing in the middle of the Sahara desert. That's is as much opportunity he's gonna have to fight McGregor. He's gotta move on."

Daniel Cormier expects Conor McGregor to be frustrated over delays regarding his UFC return

Daniel Cormier has revealed that he expects Conor McGregor to be frustrated when he tries to secure a date for his return bout.

The Irishman has been away from the octagon for over three years, following the leg break injury he suffered in his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Whilst fans would expect the UFC to be working to book McGregor's return as soon as possible, 'DC' doesn't expect it to be so simple. Speaking on the aforementioned pisode, Cormier believes McGregor will soon be frustrated at how long it takes. He said:

"Conor McGregor will get increasingly annoyed with the UFC because they will not have anywhere to put him. That's my prediction. He will want to fight... but as you know, fight cards fill up, and McGregor can't just be dropped to any fight card."
