UFC veteran shares eye-opening remark on why Conor McGregor's successful career could be his kryptonite in rumored boxing match against Logan Paul
Conor McGregor has been inactive for nearly three and a half years after breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021. While the former double champ appeared set to make his highly-anticipated return to the octagon against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June, he was forced to withdraw from the bout with a broken pinky toe.
'The Notorious' recently took to X to claim that he will participate in a boxing match against Logan Paul before returning to mixed martial arts. Josh Thomson recently weighed in on the potential matchup. Speaking on the WEIGHING IN podcast, the former Strikeforce lightweight champion stated:
"I would lean towards Logan only because of the inactivity and all of the s**t going on with Conor outside the cage or ring or whatever you want to call it. I mean, I would lean towards Logan, but it's not as if Logan's a better boxer than him. Just, I don't know what dedication you're going to get out of a guy who's worth $400 million."
Thomson's co-host Big John McCarthy chimed in, adding:
"That's the problem. That's everything right there. You can sign for the fight. The fight can happen. How much effort are you going to really put into it when you have what he has? You can not put 100% into your fight career when you have all these businesses that are in trouble and all these things that are occurring that you have to make right. You just can't put your attention where it needs to be."

UFC CEO Dana White has not commented on McGregor's plans. It should be noted, however, that 'The Notorious' and Logan Paul are both under the TKO umbrella following the recent merger between the UFC and WWE.
Daniel Cormier weighs in on Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul
While mixed martial arts fans have awaited Conor McGregor's return to action, he appears interested in taking a boxing match first. Daniel Cormier recently revealed that he does not believe doing so will mark the end of 'The Notorious' career as an MMA fighter.
Speaking to Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie, the UFC Hall of Famer stated:
"No, if he goes and boxes Logan Paul, it will be an exhibition. I mean, no, I think he's going to fight in the octagon. I think he has to, though. I think he has - for Conor McGregor to - he's got to rinse some of the stench off of him from everything that's happened outside of the octagon. Where he made his home is inside of that cage and I think that at some point, he's going to have to get back there."
