#3 UFC veteran slams Kamala Harris for comments on Lebanon
Former fighter Jake Shields has called out presidential candidate Kamala Harris for her statement on the crisis happening in Lebanon.
Since the violent conflict between Israel and Gaza began back in 2023, Lebanon has seen itself face the full force of the Israeli army. Over the last few months, the country has been hit by countless artillery, resulting in the loss of thousands of innocent lives.
Harris then released a statement on X last night, where she highlighted the "dire humanitarian situation" that Lebanon is facing. She then went on to state that the US will aim to provide financial aid to the Middle-Eastern country.
According to Shields, however, Harris' comments reek of hypocrisy, stating that the US will both be funding Israel as well as helping the countries they attack. He tweeted:
"We send billions to Israel to bomb Lebanon then millions to Lebanon to rebuild. How does this make sense."
#2 Alex Pereira breaks Ronda Rousey's title defense record
Alex Pereira successfully defended his light heavyweight title for the third time in 2024 when he defeated Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307 last weekend.
Following the Brazilian's victory, the commentary team stated on air that Pereira had now become the seventh fighter in UFC history to record three title defenses in a calendar year. It has since been confirmed that the 37-year-old has done one better, however, as he has broken a record previously held by Ronda Rousey.
With all three of his title defenses taking place within 175 days, Pereira now holds the record for the shortest amount of time between three defenses, breaking Rousey's record which stood at 189 days.
#1 Khalil Rountree Jr. releases statement following UFC 307 loss
Khalil Rountree Jr. is in positive spirits, despite suffering a devastating defeat at the hands of Alex Pereira last weekend.
The pair met in the main event of UFC 307 at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, with 'The War Horse' tasked with dethroning the seemingly unstoppable Pereira. After a bright start from the American, which saw him take the first two rounds, 'Poatan' soon found his rhythm and finished the fight in the fourth round.
Rountree Jr. took to Instagram after the fight, where he opted to praise Pereira for his performance. He wrote:
"I didn’t win the title but I grew last night. @alexpoatanpereira thanks for helping me see that I’m ready to take on the world. You showed amazing skill, you brought out a version of me that I needed to experience. You’re the champ for a reason, much respect. But I now know what I am capable of."
