UFC welterweight backs Jamahal Hill in potential title clash with Khamzat Chimaev
Khamzat Chimaev has consistently maintained that he’d like to become the UFC’s first three-weight champion. The undefeated Chimaev has competed in both the welterweight (170-pound) and middleweight (185-pound) divisions in his MMA career and notched wins at both weights in the UFC. ‘Borz’ hasn’t fought in the UFC light heavyweight (205-pound) division yet.
On that note, the “@ufenft” Twitter handle has now proposed a hypothetical UFC title matchup between Chimaev and reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill, asking who’d emerge victorious in that fight.
UFC welterweight KO artist Niko Price responded to the tweet and suggested that Hill would successfully defend wrestling savant Chimaev’s takedowns. ‘The Hybrid’ further referenced Hill’s vaunted KO power and picked him to beat ‘Borz.’ Price tweeted:
“I think Hill would win cause he has insane power, and a good sprawl.”
The “@ufenft” Twitter handle seemingly agreed with Niko Price’s assessment and indicated that Jamahal Hill did showcase incredible defensive wrestling in his title-winning performance against former 205-pound champion Glover Teixeira in January:
“We also saw Jamahl’s defensive wrestling against glover.”
Regardless, it’s believed that a potential fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Jamahal Hill is unlikely to transpire anytime soon, as ‘Borz’ has lately been pursuing the UFC welterweight title. Moreover, Chimaev has also expressed interest in facing former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker at middleweight.
When Jamahal Hill criticized and mocked Khamzat Chimaev for his excessive trash talk
Speaking of a potential Chimaev-Hill matchup, Jamahal Hill notably lambasted the Chechnya-born Swedish fighter late last year. Appearing on the Wah Gwaan podcast, American MMA stalwart Hill sounded off on some of his fellow UFC fighters for engaging in excessive trash talk.
Fellow UFC fighter Joaquin Buckley chimed in by naming Khamzat Chimaev as one of the aforementioned trash-talking fighters. Jamahal Hill concurred and stated:
“That motherf**ker just sound dumb man.” Mocking Chimaev, Hill continued, ”Smeshing me Money.” He added, “‘I kill this guy. I f**k this guy. I don’t care, bro. I don’t care. I just got my fighter (*unintelligible). Shut the f**k up, bro. Get the f**k out of here.”

Neither Khamzat Chimaev nor Jamahal Hill’s respective next opponents and exact comeback dates have been officially announced as of yet. The consensus is that Chimaev is just one victory away from a potential title shot at UFC welterweight or middleweight gold, depending on which weight class he competes in next.
Meanwhile, Jamahal Hill has been open to possibly fighting former champion Jiri ‘BJP’ Prochazka when the latter returns from his shoulder injury hiatus. Alternatively, ‘Sweet Dreams’ appears to be willing to defend his title against other light heavyweights such as Anthony Smith if ‘BJP’ doesn’t return soon.
