UFC welterweight backs Mike Perry to knockout Jake Paul "inside 5 rounds"
UFC welterweight Philip Rowe chimed in on the upcoming bout between BKFC King of Violence champion Mike Perry and social media star/ boxer Jake Paul. Perry stepped in to face Paul after the latter's original opponent, boxing legend Mike Tyson, had to pull out of their July fight due to a medical emergency.
Now, the brash and violent Mike Perry, who was once a UFC welterweight, will test his fists against the equally brash Jake Paul in what could be one of the most entertaining boxing matches in recent memory.
Philip Rowe, who is a long-time teammate of Perry, posted his thoughts in an Instagram post with the caption:
"I’ve been training with @platinummikeperry over a decade …they all think the same thing until they have to fight him. Mike KOs him inside 5 rounds. See you guys in Tampa! #Dazn #FRM #Platinum #DemSoonFindOut"
Mike Perry replaces Mike Tyson to face Jake Paul for July boxing fight
One Mike out, another Mike in. Whether you had a huge sigh of relief or a sigh of disappointment, Jake Paul will now have a new opponent for his July 20 boxing fight.
After the legendary Mike Tyson suffered an emergency scare weeks ago, his and Paul's teams decided to postpone the fight to November. In the meantime, the social-media-star-turned-pro-boxer will face one of the most entertainingly violent men to ever walk the earth: former UFC star and current BKFC champion 'Platinum' Mike Perry.
Perry is currently undefeated in bare-knuckle boxing, with a record of 5-0 with three knockouts. He's had 15 bouts in the UFC and has won two Performance of the Night and two Fight of the Night bonuses. He also has 11 official amateur boxing fights.
'Platinum' has a penchant for engaging in toe-to-toe wars in the pocket and wouldn't mind taking a few to the chin if it allows him to land a solid one. Aside from his ultra-entertaining fighting style, Perry is also quite the character outside the ring. He often goes into hilarious and over-the-top antics on social media and is always in for a good trash-talk exchange with his opponents. This should be a good one, folks.
