"Unreal matchup" - Fans hyped for 19-year-old phenom Jozef Chen's impending ONE Championship debut against Tye Ruotolo
There is a certain electricity in the air when a young athlete makes their way to ONE Championship and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) sensation Jozef Chen will look to make the most of it at ONE Fight Night 23 on July 5.
Happening inside the hallowed grounds of the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, the 19-year-old Chen will face ONE welterweight submission grappling champion Tye Ruotolo in a 186-pound catchweight submission grappling contest.
Chen showcased his technique by sending two-time ADCC silver medalist Nicky Rodriguez crashing with a well-timed trip in practice which ONE Championship posted on Instagram.
Fans were certainly impressed with Chen's handiwork and shared their reactions in the comments section which can be seen below:
"19... what a beast. Looking forward to his career - wishing him health and success. Mica vs Chne will be 🔥"
"Unreal match up. Great for the sport 💪"
"To do that on Nicky Rod is wild"
"Thats gonna be such a good match 👏, can't wait"
"What a great scrap! Cant wait to see this!"
What makes Jozef Chen an interesting opponent for Tye Ruotolo
Jozef Chen is highly touted among BJJ fans because of how smoothly he transitions between positions which led to him claiming 17 wins - 12 of them coming by way of submission.
As for Ruotolo, ONE fans know that he enjoys forcing his opponents to get into an all-out grappling exchange right from the jump and Chen just might be inclined to do so in the hopes of getting the quick win.
However, Ruotolo just might get the better of the Taiwanese-German in that regard because of his penchant for getting submission in the most surprising ways.
ONE Fight Night 23 will air live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
