Valentina Shevchenko responds to Alexa Grasso trying to "coach" her for trilogy: "She's expecting me to stay on my side"
Valentina Shevchenko is confident heading into her trilogy fight with Alexa Grasso at UFC 306, believing she already has the formula for victory. The former flyweight champion is eager to reclaim her title after a controversial split draw in their previous encounter.
Grasso, the current champion, has recently offered advice to Shevchenko for their third fight. However, Shevchenko dismissed these suggestions, claiming that her strategy in the second fight was sufficient to win.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Shevchenko said:
“Reading between the strokes, it means like, ‘OK, OK, Valentina, If I stay on my side of the octagon and you play your game, I will be safe and I won’t lose my belt. So she’s expecting me to stay on my side and she’s on hers, and we’re gonna do shadowboxing or something like that."
She continued:
"But seriously, why are we talking about a third fight? It’s only because of the judge’s mistake in the second fight, Everyone saw that I was the winner. I did enough to win, like three rounds out of five. That’s why we’re discussing this trilogy. Everything I did worked; all my strategies were effective."
