Ryan Spann stuns crowd with bone-chilling knockout of Dominick Reyes at UFC 281

Ryan Spann scored a huge victory against Dominick Reyes at UFC 281 courtesy of a terrifying knockout that came inside the very first round of the fight.

Reyes opened with some solid body kicks, while Spann had success with his hands. 'Superman' landed the one-two combination multiple times and looked like the sharper fighter between the two combatants.

During one of these exchanges, Reyes attempted to land a combination of his own, walking straight into the jab of Ryan Spann. It was followed by a strong right hand that appeared to have landed on the crown of Reyes, who subsequently went out like a light. This was the second consecutive victory for Spann this year.

Since the No.12-ranked light heavyweight contender missed weight by six tenths of a pound at UFC 281, Spann will be forefitting 20% of his purse to his opponent.

For Reyes, this was his fourth loss in a row and the American hasn't won a fight since October 2019. His latest victory came against Chris Weidman at UFC on ESPN 6.

Following the victory, Ryan Spann called out for a fight against the top-five of the light heavyweight division in the post-fight octagon interview:

"We're back at the gym on Monday. Look, I want top-five, and I don't want four, three or two."

Quickly after his devastating knockout loss, several fans on Twitter began to urge Dominick Reyes to consider retirement. Once an undefeated prospect with an unblemished 12-0 record, Reyes' losing-skid began with his fight against Jon Jones at UFC 247.

Jones was amongst the first to react to the loss on Twitter. According to him, Reyes' unwavering opinion that he won the fight against 'Bones' is perhaps the reason behind his losing form:

"I didn’t take his confidence, in his mind he beat me. Maybe that’s his problem."
