Video Throwback: Conor McGregor calls Jon Jones "No. 2" in the world after himself
Conor McGregor's quick wit and overflowing self-confidence appears to be an evergreen attribute, even in the company of Jon Jones, the man many claim to be the greatest MMA fighter of all time.
A video recently surfaced of several interactions between McGregor and Jones during the Irishman's blooming phase in the UFC during the mid-2010s. Several of the clips showcase 'Notorious' regarding himself as the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world and Jones No.2.
McGregor said the following:
"The pound-for-pound No.1 with the pound-for-pound No.2. The Notorious with Jonny Bones."

Conor McGregor's personality is part of the reason he has made millions of dollars from cage fighting. 'Notorious' is known as a master on the microphone and has produced several famous catchphrases in his time. Two of the more popular ones are "We're not here to take part, we're here to take over!" and the well-known Jeremy Stephens jibe, "Who the f**k is that guy?"
However, McGregor has also been able to perform when the lights shine brightest, a quality that separates world-class fighters from the rest.
Paul Felder believes Conor McGregor would struggle against the "next generation"
Conor McGregor's return to the UFC draws closer with each day, as the Irishman appears to have fully recovered from the broken leg he suffered at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier.
It is unclear as to who will welcome 'Notorious' back to the octagon, but fighters such as Michael Chandler have nominated themselves.
Paul Felder, a former UFC fighter-turned-commentator, recently shared his thoughts on McGregor's comeback opponent. Felder stated that 'Notorious' would struggle against fighters on their way to the top of the division's rankings.
'The Irish Dragon' described fighters such as Arman Tsarukyan and Mateusz Gamrot as "the next generation" and pointed to their hunger and tenacity as being serious problems for fighters like Conor McGregor.
Instead, Felder suggested that 'Notorious' fight someone like Michael Chandler.
During a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Felder stated:
"I don't mean this in any disrespect but I do think the [lightweight] division is passing him by badly... This next generation of fighters, if you're not in there mixing it up with them and on the mats with those dudes every day – I know he's training – but he's going to have to hope for fights like Michael Chandler, who's a beast. But those are the guys you can still compete with."

However, McGregor has put on an immense amount of muscle mass during his recovery period, and a return to 155lbs appears unlikely.
