Pereira earned a middleweight shot against Israel Adesanya with just three UFC victories to his name. However, since his UFC signing, 'Poatan' has been touted as the only contender who could potentially end 'The Last Stylebender's' dominant middleweight title reign.

Pereira stood up to expectations, defeating Adesanya for the third time in combat sports (the first time in MMA) at UFC 281 to be crowned the new champion. The Brazilian was almost knocked out at the end of the first round by Adesanya but seemingly recovered in round two.

Alex Pereira's woes returned in the third round as he was taken down and controlled by Adesanya for the most part. Glover Teixeira implored 'Poatan' to leave everything inside the octagon in the final round after the Brazilian's output visibly fell in round four.

Pereira's lethal left hook finally found its mark in round five and a barrage of follow-up shots was enough for referee Marc Goddard to step in.

Israel Adesanya vows to fight Alex Pereira until he wins

Israel Adesanya's UFC 281 loss against Alex Pereira made it 0-3 for 'The Last Stylebender' against the Brazilian. 'Poatan' is seemingly Adesanya's kryptonite considering how the Nigerian-born Kiwi appeared to be winning all three fights at some point.

While Pereira considers Adesanya deserving of an immediate rematch, he stated that he doesn't believe 'The Last Stylebender' will want it. Responding to the newly crowned champion's comments, Adesanya has promised to fight him till he gets the win.

The former UFC middleweight champ said in a recent appearance on the Flagrant podcast:

"He [Pereira] said like, 'Oh, I don't think he's gonna want an immediate rematch.' I'm like, 'F** you.' He doesn't know me. I will fight you until I beat you. I don't give a fu**. I'll be 60, I'll come to your favela, I'll knock on your f***king door [with] my walking stick and be like, 'Yo, you and me right now.' Like, we need to go because that's just me. I don't give a f***. Even if it's just one. I'll beat you. I know I can beat him."
