Was Dustin Poirier's X account hacked? 'The Diamond' shares controversial post promoting popular crypto coin

Dustin Poirier's X/Twitter account has just been revealed to have been hacked. His wife, Jolie Poirier, took to her own account to ease fan concerns after 'The Diamond' had made a since-deleted tweet promoting the Solana crypto coin. Moreover, the tweet included the use of controversial racial language.

However, the former UFC interim lightweight champion has often steered clear of controversy and has maintained a fairly positive relationship with the MMA fandom. Fortunately, his wife was quick to clear up any confusion regarding her husband's activity on X/Twitter.

"Dustin's twitter has been hacked. Do not click on any links tweeted."

Not only did his wife clarify that it was not 'The Diamond' making the controversial tweets, she also warned fans against clicking on any links advertised on Dustin's account. While the tweet itself has since been deleted, screenshots of it survive.

A Reddit thread features a screenshot of the tweet made on the poirier-4-ufc-interim-champions-failed-unify-belts" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-is-sponsored="false">ex-interim champion's hacked account.

"Some n*ggas just told me that @Solana is a jeet chain. So I'm moving #Poirier to TRON! The first UFC champion launching on TRX... Wassup @justinsuntron"

This marks the second high-profile athlete as of late to be the victim of hacking. Football star and recent Real Madrid signee Kylian Mbappe also had his X/Twitter account hacked. His account was used to post various controversial statements in relation to other football clubs and footballers.

This isn't the first time that an athlete's social media account has been hacked, but it may represent a new wave of attempts to compromise the internet presence of several sportsmen.

Dustin Poirier isn't the only UFC fighter to be linked to a crypto coin

While Dustin Poirier's promotion of the Solana crypto coin was the result of his X/Twitter being hacked, another elite UFC fighter has been lambasted for the deliberate promotion of a meme coin. Undefeated middleweight Khamzat Chimaev has been embroiled in a recent controversy involving the SMASH meme coin.

A meme coin, for context, is merely a crypto coin identified with images derived from internet memes. Chimaev heavily promoted SMASH on his social media accounts, driving its value up to $1.35 due to investment from his followers. However, less than 24 hours later, the coin's value dropped by 94%.

In short, this led to a $1 million loss for everyone who had invested in the coin, causing many to accuse Chimaev of perpetrating a scam. However, according to the Chechen star's manager, Chimaev was also misled and had no direct involvement.
