WATCH: Bantamweight MMA king Fabricio Andrade gets ready for comeback, trains with former boxing champ Tim Tszyu
Fabricio Andrade is ramping up the preparations for a potential return, and one man helping him has as much championship pedigree as him.
The reigning ONE bantamweight MMA world champion is hard at work at his home gym of Tiger Muay Thai, and one of the fighters matching his pace is former boxing champ Tim Tszyu.
The former WBO super welterweight world champion has also taken camp in the Phuket facility to train for his upcoming fight against Vergil Ortiz Jr. in August for the WBA interim super welterweight world title.
Jay Patto, Tiger Muay Thai's head coach for strength and conditioning, shared snippets of Fabricio Andrade and Tszyu's training on Instragam.
"Afternoon S&C with the boys! 🤼♂️ 🤝 🎯," wrote Patto on his caption.
Andrade had a bittersweet campaign in 2023 after he captured the bantamweight MMA throne but failed in his bid for two-sport supremacy.
'Wonder Boy' first captured the vacant ONE bantamweight MMA world title when he knocked out bitter rival John Lineker at ONE Fight Night 7 in February.
The Brazilian star, however, suffered his first defeat in ONE Championship when he crossed paths with ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty.
The two world champions battled for the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship, but Haggerty was the one who captured two-sport supremacy when he knocked Andrade out at ONE Fight Night 16.
Andrade then revealed he was nursing multiple injuries before his November matchup against Haggerty.
Fabricio Andrade receives lofty praise from Brazilian MMA royalty
Before he resumed work in Phuket, Fabricio Andrade spent much of 2024 in his home country of Brazil.
Andrade returned home to Brazil after his fight with Haggerty to spend the holidays with his family.
Despite his vacation, Andrade still trained and even shared the gym with Brazilian legend Jose Aldo.
'The King of Rio' is widely considered the greatest UFC featherweight world champion, and Aldo had some huge praise for 'Wonder Boy' after training with each other.
"Thanks for the workouts brother! You are a phenomenon!" commented Aldo in one of Andrade's Instagram posts.
