WATCH: British superstar Jonathan Haggerty's gold-ridden rise to Muay Thai and kickboxing supremacy

ONE bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion Jonathan Haggerty only needed 27 pro fights to become one of the most feared strikers in the world.

ONE Championship released a short documentary on YouTube recounting Haggerty's meteoric rise ahead of his defense of the 145-pound Muay Thai crown against ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver on Friday, Sept. 6, inside the Ball Arena.

In just his second fight under the ONE banner, 'The General' dethroned then-ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in May 2019 via unanimous decision to claim his first ONE world title.

Though he would ultimately lose the crown to Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Haggerty pulled off strong decision wins in his next three bouts and secured a world title shot against Thai legend Nong-O Hama for the bantamweight Muay Thai crown.

After dethroning Nong-O via knockout in April 2023, Haggerty finished bantamweight MMA king Fabricio Andrade in November of that same year to win the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship.

Jonathan Haggerty says ONE 168 bout will be the most important of his career

Jonathan Haggerty is no stranger to the limelight at this point in his career. Still, he believes that defending the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship at ONE 168: Denver against Superlek will be his most important fight yet.

The 27-year-old two-sport king told InsideFighting:

"I'd say up there with the Nong-O fight. I think this touches it up there a little bit. I think this is the most important fight of my career."
