WATCH: Burmese legend Aung La N Sang sharpens his kicks with kickboxing superstar Tyrone Spong ahead of Denver return
Aung La N Sang is neck-deep into his training camp ahead of his highly anticipated return, and he enlisted the help of one of the best kickboxers of this century.
The Burmese legend has been working on his game at Kill Cliff FC ahead of his middleweight MMA fight against Shamil Erdogan at ONE 168: Denver on September 6 at Ball Arena.
In an Instagram post, Kill Cliff FC head trainer Henri Hooft held the pads for Aung La and Dutch-Surinamese kickboxing legend Tyrone Spong.
Hooft, a former Dutch kickboxer, also referenced the hip-hop classic Can I Kick It? by A Tribe Called Quest in his post.
"CAN I KICK IT... YES YOU CAN 😉 Basics with @tyrone_spong and & @aunglansang @killcliff_fc K.I.S.S"
Spong is often considered one of the best kickboxers of the 2000s and the early 2010s, with a record of 107-7-1 and multiple world title wins.
Aung La N Sang, meanwhile, stands as one of the pillars of ONE Championship.
The greatest combat sports athlete from Myanmar, Aung La is a former ONE middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world champion. 'The Burmese Python' holds 15 wins in the promotion, with 13 finishes under his record.
Aung La is also on a stellar three-fight winning streak at the expense of Japanese legend Yushin Okami, Gilberto Galvao, and Fan Rong. He'll now try to add the undefeated Erdogan (9-0) to his hit list when they square off in Denver next month.
Tickets for ONE 168 are available at Ticketmaster.
Aung La N Sang looks to secure a world title shot against Anatoly Malykhin
Aung La N Sang is one of the most influential fighters in the history of ONE Championship and was the promotion's second-ever two-division world champion.
The 39-year-old simultaneously held the ONE middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world titles from February 2018 to October 2020, and he's now hellbent on reclaiming his middleweight throne.
In a clip he uploaded on his YouTube account, Aung La expressed his desire to challenge three-division world champion Anatoly Malykhin for the middleweight MMA strap after he's done with Erdogan in Denver:
"Currently, the middleweight division is kinda weird. Anatoly, who's the champion, the light heavyweight, and the heavyweight champ too, but at the top, I'm one of them. And I need to put on a great performance to get a title shot next."
