WATCH: Cain Velasquez lands powerbomb to score the pin for first wrestling match since release from prison
UFC heavyweight legend Cain Velasquez recently put on an impressive display in his return to pro wrestling at AAA's event in Tempe, Arizona. Velasquez went on to secure a victory by powerbombing Sam Adonis off the top rope to get the pin.
Watch the highlights below:
Velasquez teamed up with Blue Demon Jr. and Pagano in a trio’s bout to defeat Gringo Loco, Sam Adonis & Taurus. Adonis was happy to share the ring with the former UFC heavyweight champion and shared his regards on Twitter.
"Not many people can say they’ve been powerbombed off the Top Rope by a UFC Heavyweight Champion! This Sucked!!! 🤕 🖕🏻 @cainmma"
This was Velasquez's first public appearance since spending eight months in custody for attempted murder and ten other gun-related charges after crashing his car into Harry Goularte's vehicle and firing at him. Goularte is suspected of having molested an underage girl close to Velasquez's family.
The former UFC champion had to post a million-dollar bail to attend AAA's event, which was held at his alma mater of Arizona State University. Addressing the crowd during his hero's welcome, Velasquez promised to continue fighting forever.
Dana White on Cain Velasquez's release
The MMA community has unanimously voiced its support for Cain Velasquez since his arrest. UFC President Dana White, amongst other notable figures, has continued to rally strongly for Velasquez's release.
White was finally happy to see his former champion released, albeit on bail, after eight months. The UFC head honcho reiterated his call for "real justice" for Velasquez and hopes that 'Cardio Cain' won't have to stay away from his family much longer. White said in an interview with TMZ Sports:
"I'm happy for him and his family to be finally back together. Cain Velasquez is a good man, he's a good person, and I'm hoping the judge that looked at this case said 'You know what? This family has suffered enough'. As if the kids haven't suffered enough, they lost their father for almost a year. Hopefully the real justice gets served in this case, and Cain Velasquez - who is a good man, a good father, a good husband - gets to be home with his family."
