WATCH: Christian Lee’s brutal ground-and-pound gains him redemption against Edward Kelly
Revisit Christian Lee's knockout win in his second fight against Edward Kelly.
In September 2019, Lee was matched up against Kelly for an intriguing matchup at ONE: Beyond The Horizon.
Heading into the featherweight MMA contest, 'The Warrior' was coming off a split decision loss against Martin Nguyen, while Kelly also looked to bounce back from a defeat.
Less than three minutes into the fight, Lee's impressive start was shut down when he landed an illegal suplex, leading to a disqualification loss. Four months later, they met again at ONE: Eternal Glory, where 'The Warrior' secured revenge with a first-round knockout by ground-and-pound.
ONE honored Lee's revenge-driven win by posting the entire rematch on YouTube, which can be seen below:
Since then, Christian Lee and Edward Kelly have gone their separate ways without a trilogy bout.
'The Warrior' moved up weight classes and became a two-division MMA world champion at lightweight and welterweight, with both world titles still held by the 26-year-old superstar.
Meanwhile, Kelly fought four more times under the ONE banner, winning two and losing the others. 'The Ferocious' last fought in May 2021, defeating Ahmed Faress by split decision at ONE: Full Blast.
Christian Lee looks to pick up where he left off with ONE 169: Atlanta win
Christian Lee hasn't fought since defeating Kiamrian Abbasov by fourth-round TKO in November 2022 to become a two-division world champion.
The 26-year-old endured an extended layoff to recover from the tragic passing of his young sister, Victoria Lee, which also influenced Angela Lee to retire.
'The Warrior' never considered hanging up the gloves and now looks to continue his dominance with a win in his highly-anticipated return.
On November 8, Lee will defend his lightweight MMA world title for the first time since August 2022 when he faces Alibeg Rasulov at ONE 169: Atlanta.
Rasulov made his ONE Championship debut on July 5, defeating Ok Rae Yoon by unanimous decision. The Turkish grappler plans to continue building momentum by pulling off an upset against Lee at ONE 169.
