Dober was originally scheduled to face Mike Davis at the UFC event on July 13. However, Davis dropped out of the fight due to an injury and was replaced by Silva, who had competed two weeks ago at UFC 303.
The fight, which took place at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, was an electrifying affair for MMA fans around the world. But at one point, Dober suffered a cut above his eye and as the fight progressed, the cut started to get worse.
In the third round, the referee intervened and stopped the fight, resulting in Silva emerging victorious in the encounter. With the victory, the Brazilian is now on an 11-fight win streak.
During his post-fight octagon interview, Dober spoke about his injury and showered praise on his opponent for stepping in on short notice.
"Yeah, I got these Neanderthal eyebrows. They cut open very easily. But, I'm talking about both Jean Silva and I, this is what I mean being a warrior, right? He took it on two weeks notice, I will fight anybody. This is what fighting's all about. I don't care who, when and where. We throw hands and we make war... Denver, Colorado, I love you guys so much. You've supported me from the beginning. I will be back in here. I'm gonna heal this eyebrow up and we're gonna go back to work, my friend."
