Watch: Fighters get punished for breaking haircut rule in Khabib Nurmagomedov's gym

Khabib Nurmagomedov appears to be attempting to instill a level of discipline in the students at his gym that would rival his own. Footage recently emerged of fighters who train at Nurmagomedov's gym being 'punished' for breaking stringent hair requirements.

A coach at the gym was seen inspecting the hair of the students, and anyone whose hair was deemed too long was smacked with a long, bamboo stick. The video was posted on YouTube by @SmeshMMA, who said the following:

"In Khabib's gym there is a haircut code that you can't break. If you do, here is the punishment."

Khabib Nurmagomedov kept his hair short throughout his entire career. If anything, the hairstyle reflects an attitude that 'The Eagle' carries with him in life, one that is candid and simple in nature.

Nurmagomedov has spoken about how the rural village in Dagestan where he was raised has shaped his idea of what he feels is truly needed in life.

During the weight cut for one of his fights, the UFC great stated the following:

"I'm not coming here for money. I have water, bread. I don't need anything. I am mountain guy, everything is good. I only need this crazy belt."

Khabib Nurmagomedov thinks six title defenses is ideal for Islam Makhachev

Since retiring in 2020, Khabib Nurmagomedov has transferred his success in the cage into massive success as a coach. 'The Eagle' is often seen in the corners of many of the Russian-born fighters who train at the American Kickboxing Academy under head coach Javier Mendez.

Of all the fighters that Nurmagomedov has cornered so far, none seem more likely to carry the flag previously held by 'The Eagle' than Islam Makhachev.

The dominance displayed by Nurmagomedov has been continued by his friend and current UFC lightweight champion. Makhachev showcased the performance of his career against Charles Oliveira at UFC 280, submitting the Brazilian in Round 2 to secure the title.

Eagle FC, the MMA promotion founded by 'The Eagle', recently hosted Eagle FC 51. Khabib Nurmagomedov was interviewed at the event by Red Corner MMA, where the former champion was asked to detail Islam Makhachev's ideal championship run.

Nurmagomedov said:

"I think he needs at least five, maybe six. That would be ideal. Six defenses, that's six fights and three years. Then it's possible that the sport leaves him, because nobody can stay on top forever."
