WATCH: Filipino-American star Jackie Buntan switches from defense to offense in rapid sequence against Daniela Lopez

ONE Muay Thai standout Jackie Buntan proved she can turn her defense into offense in the blink of an eye when she fought Daniela Lopez at ONE: Empower in September 2021.

In a video shared by ONE on Instagram, Buntan deftly parried a quick two-punch combination from Lopez, then responded with a right cross and left hook of her own that staggered the Argentinian.

Buntan continued frustrating Lopez with her counterstriking abilities, which she eventually leveraged into the unanimous decision victory.

The Filipino-American's next fight was for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai world championship bout with Smilla Sundell at ONE 156 in April 2022. Despite her best efforts, Buntan lost to 'The Hurricane' via unanimous decision.

However, Buntan did not allow the setback to define her and soon rattled off three straight wins, featuring a first-round finish of Diandra Martin in May 2023.

The Boxing Works athlete will face Anissa Meksen for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world championship at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug' on Nov. 8 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Jackie Buntan predicts epic barnburner with Anissa Meksen

Jackie Buntan is ready to go all five rounds with Anissa Meksen at ONE 169 in her bid to win her first ONE world championship.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, she said:

"I could also see it going five rounds. She's a great athlete, I'm a great athlete as well. So I can see it being a back-and-forth clash, but I definitely see myself being up on the scorecards at that."

ONE 169 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
